Account Number

The number specifically identifying the Customer’s Account, it can be embedded on the front of a Payment Card or can be supplied separately by a Bank or Payment Institution.

How does Account Number work?

The first six digits of the number are Bank Identification Number (BIN) which identifies Bank or Payment Institution which issued the card. The last digit is an assurance digit which is used to detect errors. The remaining 9 digits represent the individual Account number assigned to a Customer. The card number is usually prominently embossed on the front of a payment card, and is encoded on the magnetic stripe and chip.
